 Little Kingdom Learning Center (LKLC), offers an enriched early learning childcare program, which offer a comfortable, friendly, inviting appealing environment designed for children and families. We offer a low child-to-staff ratio and small group size which inspire each staff to spend more individual time with each child to assist with early learning development. LKLC is nestled in a residential commercial housing development making it a home away from home for your child while children receive quality care. We offer a friendly, dynamic child-family centered approach to make your child feel as comfortable as they are in their own home. Our desired goal is to assure families and children feel welcome and receive the finest early learning child care experience as possible.  

Mission

To provide quality care in a comfortable, happy, safe, nurturing and enriching environment while offering community resources to Families. We ensure close personal attention to each child is essential to providing a quality experience for all children; therefore, adequate and qualified personnel will be hired to ensure every child has the proper supervision within our childcare center.

About the Director

  

The Director has over 15 years of experience working with children and Families. Completed scholarly advanced Doctoral coursework in Adult Education, achieved a Master’s in Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Human Services. Certified Six Sigma Black Belt – project management, process improvement. 

Furthermore, the director is an active member of The National Association for the Education of Homeless Children; The Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, The National Council on Family Relations, National Organization for Human Services, Military Child Education Coalition, National Association for the Education of Young Children. Also, was previously appointed by The Commissioners of St. Mary’s County, Maryland a partial appointment to the   Commission for Women St. Mary’s, County  served on the Commission  for Women.    Positions held in addition to early childhood development: Finance and Administration Director, Regional Family Readiness Coordinator, Work and Family Life Consultant, Family Life and Education Specialist, Independent Contractor for individuals living with HIV and AIDS, Mental Health Worker, Case Manager, Family Support Partner. Served as the School Advisory Chair,  served as the Japan District Advisory Committee Representative since at an Elementary School and volunteered 900 hours as a mentor for the AmeriCorps reading program.


Our Staff

Our dynamic staff are trained, certified and well diverse in early childhood education; All staff completes a mandatory federal and state background check. They also partake in  current and continued training on health and safety topics and various areas in relation to early childhood education, family and professional development.  In addition, all staff go through a background check and reference check and are selected based on their knowledge in childcare, certification in child development, their experience and knowledge with children, and their passion for children and Families within early childhood education.

What Children Learn


  

Our curriculum implements and focus on child-family, multicultural, diversity, community as well as culture which we incorporate in the monthly curriculum and themes. Our philosophy and motto are “It takes a village to raise a child.” Little Kingdom Learning Center, also implement community within curriculum as well. We believe, the community impact, shape and assist with the development of early childhood learning. We focus on individuality, meaning each child develops and learns at their own pace. Every child has an individualized portfolio which provide illustrations of development and activities completed within the various times which parents can obtain an understanding of continuing daily development and progress. We focus and incorporate the following areas within curriculum and daily schedule: Social studies, early literacy, communication, math, social and emotional, art, health, safety and physical/ gross motor and cognitive development. We also have on display a Parent Board; which provide parent education and community resources as well. We also incorporate music and movement in daily activities. Nevertheless, our program meets the mandatory safety and health requirements to ensure children are safe at all times.  Program offer flexible, yet convenient hours to align with the schedules of Families.
